This is MY desktop and I didn’t invite him! 🤔 But @foxwithadarkside did – remarking that my cat Luigi from my previous desktop artwork IS Crosshair 🐱

I couldn’t un-see the mischief anymore and unforeseen art occupied my brain once again! 🥳And as always, art tends to rough up my brain until I manage to get it out and finally get some sleep if that's not asking too much 🤯✨

So I had to deal with him lurking around like my cat Luigi and especially if he's bored or unnerved he's up to no good. Here we get another proof, that Crosshair is only a big cat 😺

So now I'm a proud little drawing Padawan 🦉✨ No templates for the faces, the expression, the body shape. One exception: The paw in the last frame my husband modeled for me! 👍

And that was way too much fun and quite difficult because he made faces and hissed like Crosshair (nooo... not good 👀 I'm not going to be a Crosshair girl, especially if my stuff gets pawed! 🐾 )

Hey, big fan, I loved your AU Star Wars fics, by far some of the best stories I've read. So when I saw the trailer for the new Disney show and saw Barriss as an inquisitor I was shocked, was this always the canon? I wondered if you were inspired by some SW novels or is this just a weird coincidence?

Barriss Offee has not appeared in any Star Wars media set after TCW S5 since "The Wrong Jedi" aired in 2013. On the Edge of the Devil's Backbone was written between May 2015 (began posting in July 2015) and October 2018, when the only media that existed that dealt with the Inquisitors was Star Wars Rebels, which introduced the Inquisitor (not yet called the Grand Inquisitor) in 2014 -- you'll note that in Backbone it's the Inquisition rather than the Inquisitorius, which is a name that canon didn't use until much later. Backbone was written so early that canon wasn't even using the Brother/Sister naming conventions that appeared in Rebels S2, which the first few chapters of Backbone predates (it started posting in the summer of 2015). That is the reason that Backbone Inquisitors use naming conventions that the canon Inquisitors do not: because it predates the canon naming conventions.

Back in 2015, there was speculation that the Seventh Sister who appeared in the S2 trailer that aired at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim was Barriss, thus leading to a brief period of time when the Seventh Sister and the Fifth Brother were known as "Barriss and Clyde" within the fandom, and for a long time afterwards people still called the Fifth Brother Clyde. The Seventh Sister when introduced in the original trailer only appeared helmeted, leading to the speculation that she might be Barriss Offee. When her VA was announced, there was widespread dismay that Sarah Michelle Geller might have replaced Meredith Salenger as Barriss, and at one point Freddie Prinze Jr had to deny that SMG had been recast as Barriss: that was how predominant that theory was. My use of Barriss as an Inquisitor came out of the original "there are more Inquisitors!" reveal from the Rebels S2 trailer but I made the decision back then not to make her the character that would later be known as the Seventh Sister since I was pretty sure canon wasn't going to do that. That decision was not based on anything that was actually in canon and certainly not on any of the novels at the time, because back in 2015 when I started working on Backbone there were only, I think, four new canon books out.

Backbone was, in fact, so early that when I wrote it, Cham Syndulla had not been re-introduced in Rebels -- the episode "Homecoming" aired in February 2016. (He was not actually revealed as Hera Syndulla's father until the April 2015 novel Lords of the Sith; it had previously been speculated he was Hera's uncle, not her father.) It was written years before Jedi: Fallen Order came out and revealed more information about the Inquisitorius, their recruiting patterns, or their headquarters; it also predates the appearance of the Inquisitorius in the 2017 Darth Vader comics.

All that said, it's not really a weird coincidence -- TBB also made Hera's mother green, for example, the same way I made Alecto Syndulla green. (This was more than a year before we saw that portrait in Rebels S3 (October 2016) and even more years before she was actually given a name in TBB.) That Barriss had become an Inquisitor was speculated as soon as the Rebels S2 trailer revealed that the Inquisitor was not the only Inquisitor. (He was not called the Grand Inquisitor in canon until the episode introducing the Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother aired in late October 2015, which by the way Backbone predates. He was introduced in 2014 only as "the Inquisitor," which is why and some older fans will still call him Quizzy.)

Backbone is nine years old. I started working on it in May 2015, even before "The Siege of Lothal" aired. Even though it wasn't finished until 2018, it was fully plotted by the end of summer 2015 and it predates most current Star Wars canon, because the new canon only started in fall of 2014, with the novel Star Wars: A New Dawn and soon afterwards Rebels. There was not much canon then! The Inquisitors were introduced for Rebels! At the time, there was nothing else! All of that stuff we now know about the Inquisitors? It came out well after Backbone started posting. (Hell, Jedi: Fallen Order not only postdates the beginning of Backbone, it postdates the end of Backbone, which was October 2018.)

Everyone is loving the idea of an Imperial Tech now but you all were role playing Imperial Bad Batch months before the end of season two made the idea popular and I appreciate what you have done with them. I have a lot of fun reading their stories and I hope there will be more with the plant because I really like Echo and Blithe a lot.

Thank you so much! I started him in May 2022, so you are correct that we were playing him for almost a full year before S2 brought it to the forefront of the fandom zeitgeist. I was looking for an outlet for my particular brand of cocky cleverness that was a bit less constrained that we've seen in Canon Tech.

However, I ultimately couldn't handle the amount of thirst that was trapped!😅 Therefore, last fall I handed his blog off to another member of our writing squad who has really taken him to new heights.

It is true. I have noticed lately the idea of an Imperial version of Tech is surfacing more and more within fanfiction and fanart on Twitter, Tumblr, and other social media outlets. I am ecstatic over this. I hope to write my own Imperial Tech fanfiction one day if I can ever find the time.

While not the original mun, I know that even before this blog was created, others also saw his potential. For example, @emperor-palpaminty wrote a story called "Cat and Mouse" as early as August 2021. Her writing also inspired @lyrisei to make a wonderful comic based on her work, which was a source of inspiration near the beginning, I am told.

This blog was born nearly a year later. I took over as mun in October 2022. Tech has always been my favorite member of TBB, but as a writer I tend to lean in the direction of darker themes and topics. I favor the underdogs and villains.

While nervous at first, Imperial Tech turned out to be a perfect fit for my style, and I have a lot of fun writing for him. I wanted to do right by how I perceived the character, and getting him down took some time. Now it feels more natural, and I am happy to be his mun.

I am curious what you guys think! Now that we have all seen the season finale, if Tech does indeed return, and if he is indeed Imperial, what do you think he will be like?

Will he have cybernetic limbs? Will he be among the first dark troopers? Will he be chipped? Will he be brainwashed and serve under Dr. Hemlock like Emerie? What do I love about The Bad Batch? Okay, crazy story: when I first heard about it, it was a livestream from an older Star Wars Celebration event where Dave Filoni was talking about the concept (hope some of you know what I'm talking about), I actually brushed it off and was all like, "Whatever..." (Now I wanna go back in time and smack my past self for saying that). At that point, I was all caught up with TCW (the show that FINALLY got me into Star Wars and have been a fan since I was a teen). When the series finale premiered with TBB story arc, I was all like, "Okay..." and saw each group being the Leader, Nerd, Muscle, Emo Guy w/ the 20/20 Vision posse that's common in a lot of popular media, and I brushed that off. When Disney announced that there's a spin-off/TCW sequel about them, I was still like, "Whatever..." but gave the season one premiere a watch anyway...

...How could I brushed this off?

The second Omega came into the squad's life, that's when it all changed...and the rest was history! I haven't been obsessed with this fandom ever since my Voltron days! LOL As the show progressed, I just love love LOOOOVE each character and how the end of the Clone Wars affected them and such. There are no words to describe my love for the series now! If you're an artist, writer, creator, reader, etc? I'm an artist (and a reader of TBB fanfics <3). I drew a lot of Omega when the show premiered, and when season 2 came in I draw a lot of Tech and Phee of course! I draw a lot of manga-style art and drew a lot of manga/anime-styled Star Wars fanart back in my otaku days and it was rare to see SW fanart in that style. I'm currently working on a Tech x Phee fan comic adaption of my most favorite fanfiction, "The Right Partner" by Fennecsrifle (the author kindly gave me permission to do so). I wasn't able to work on it as much last year because I was working a completely original VTuber project (which is now live on YouTube). Whenever I'm not drawing fanart, I create art inspired by my Hmong-American heritage, culture, and identity. Please give my VTuber a support by subscribing to her channel!

I recently got into the whole VTuber scene myself since creating my original project last year. Before that, I was already familiar with them like Kizuna AI (the original VTuber), and enjoy Hololive (I love Tokino Sora, Suisei Hoshimachi, and Ceres Fauna).

Speaking of VTubing, I planned on streaming my art and even processes of the TechPhee doujinshi possibly over on Twitch (TBA). Plus other fun stuff like handcams of me sharing stuff too! In the meantime, here are my selfies that I wanna share:

I also love Transformers (especially the animated stuff). I grew up with Beast Wars and the Unicron anime trilogy, but I brushed that off...until Transformers Prime came into my life and I got into the fandom through that show. Sometimes you'll see some Transformers fanart from me. I even have a Tumblr page for a digital passion project fanzine about one of the human characters from that show, Miko, which focuses on her life in Japan before the events of the show -> @tfp-miko-zine

He suffers from pseudobulbar affect due to sustaining traumatic brain injuries from getting blown up on Abafar. He used to be able to medically manage his fits because the Republic supplied him with a regular dose of antidepressants, but stopped being able to afford his meds once he escaped the clutches of the Empire. That's why his giggling is more frequent in Rebels and less so in TBB.

People seem to forget Gregor is a commando and really underuse his potential as such, just because he's supposed to be "crazy". That's honestly pretty disrespectful for people who suffer from mental illness.

Also people also forget he was a civilian for a while? If anyone could escape the Empire and figure out how to blend in and help other clones, it's definitely Gregor. Now with the added bonus of knowing he's a capable super soldier that doesn't need to take flack from a crummy boss.
